From the Leader
As Conductor-in-Residence with MidAmerica Productions at Carnegie Hall, I was asked to assist create a long-term artistically viable platform for choirs to perform at the Sydney Opera House. I am proud of the project that we are now presenting to you.
I am honored to have been invited to lead the Community Choir track of World Voices Australia as well as to be the Festival's Artistic Director. I believe that this festival will prove to be one of the most significant choral events of 2007. I would like to invite you to consider performing and/or bringing your choir on this amazing musical adventure with us.
Highlights of the World Voices Australia Community Choirs track include:
- Your performance on the Concert Hall stage of the Sydney Opera House alongside other fine community choirs
- Participation in the rehearsals and workshops for all the massed festival choir pieces which feature the participating community choirs
- Participation in rehearsal for the World Voices Australia finale massed performance featuring the combined voices from the other World Voices tracks - Women, Young Men, Church and Children
- Collaboration with the world class organist, Fred Swann
- Experiencing choral art at a level that assures enrichment and a once in a life time musical experience
- Other individual performances for full choirs as arranged with the organizers
- Sightseeing, 3.5 to 4 star accommodation, entrances to attractions, comfortable transport and selected meals
