From the Leader

I have always dreamed of touring Australia with a choral group. Imagine being in Australia with other Church choirs sharing this dream.

I know of some of the grand Cathedrals that Australia boasts as well as many of the churches with a proud tradition of choral music. For me this is almost as big as a thrill as stepping onto the Opera House stage to sing and to conduct.

I am making this dream a reality. Please feel free to join me as we make amazing music in Australia. I am thrilled to be leading all the Church Choirs in massed works at the conclusion of your cycle of individual performances at the Opera House. I am looking forward to this unique moment.

Highlights of the World Voices Church track include:

  • 15-minute performance by your choir on the Concert Hall stage of the Opera House
  • Participation in rehearsals and workshops for the Church track massed performance piece and performance of the piece as our track's concert finale
  • Participation in rehearsal and performance for the festival massed performance, featuring voices from other streams, including young men's, women's, children's and community choirs
  • Separate shared performances in the Sydney community as arranged by the organizers - especially being featured in some of the outstanding churches and cathedrals in Australia
  • Sightseeing, 3.5 - 4 star hotels, comfortable transport and selected meals
  • The possibility of extending your performance tour and sightseeing time in Australia

Vision

The world of church choirs and sacred literature is shared the world over. Uplifting of soul, infused with meaning a joyous tribute to life. World Voices will feature Church choirs at the Sydney Opera House and also at Churches and Cathedrals around Sydney and further afield.

The Church track is open to full ensembles. However there is also a massed festival piece for Church choirs as well as an overall massed piece involving all the tracks. Individual singers are welcome to join in these two pieces if your whole ensemble is not able to join us in 2007.
